Ted Leland helps PCA-Sacramento with $20,000 Grant toward San Joaquin PCA Youth Impact Project

03.25.2019

Sacramento, CA—  Last month, PCA-Sacramento received a $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation of San Joaquin. With the help of Dr. Ted Leland, National Advisory Board Member and Vice President of External Relations at the University of Pacific, the foundation awarded more funding through the Brian M. Stocker Fund to contribute to the San Joaquin PCA Youth Impact Project.

The goal of the San Joaquin PCA Youth Impact Project is to bring PCA programming to thousands of kids in the San Joaquin area and provide for them the tools they need to thrive. This grant will provide 12 new workshops to the area for various youth sports organizations and 3 additional workshop partnerships, with books, to two local high schools including Stockton High School.

Ted Leland comments, "This is a great step forward for San Joaquin County, and the Brian M Stocker Grant is proud to help PCA continue its work in the area.”

“We will help San Joaquin County maximize the opportunities provided in youth sports to help kids become their best,” says Zach Streight, the PCA-Sacramento Executive Director. “Our goal is to build a deep, meaningful partnership with the youth sports landscape within San Joaquin County that will become a sustainable program changing lives for many years to come.”

About Positive Coaching Alliance

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is dedicated to developing “Better Athletes, Better People” through youth and high school athletics. Nationally, 70% of young athletes stop playing organized sports by age 13 because it is no longer enjoyable. PCA’s mission is to transform the sports culture from a win-at-all-costs mentality to one where every participant has a positive experience. PCA promotes ethical behavior, self-esteem and confidence so youth athletes can focus on personal improvement, the welfare of their teammates, and their education and career goals.
