Ali obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and earned his J.D. from the University of Denver, College of Law. Ali chaired the Labor and Employment Section of the State Bar of Arizona in 2012-2013 and serves as the Pro Bono General Counsel to the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson. Ali also coaches football at Salpointe Catholic High School. Ali is a community activist and high school coach who believes making positive differences in ones’ community is an enormous aspect of living a successful life.

In 2008, Ali started his own firm with fellow Tucson attorney Timothy Medcoff. Since the inception of Farhang & Medcoff. the firm has experienced tremendous growth and success while remaining steadfastly committed to Improving the Tucson community through support of a multitude of local charities Ali advises the boards of numerous local organizations and businesses, bringing sound guidance and enthusiasm to causes and groups in need.

Ali was instrumental in founding the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl. The Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl is the only bowl game in the United States that gives all profits to local charities, including the local Boys & Girls Club. Ali was named Tucson Star's 2015 Southern Arizona Sports Figure of thy Year in honor of the Arizona Bowl Games astonishing first year.

Ali is a minority owner of the Tucson Sugar Skulls, as well as the Founder and Chairman of the Board for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, which is held annually at the Arizona Stadium in Tucson.
