Trainers - Tampa Bay
Coach Carmyn Samuel grew up in Palm Beach County, Florida, where she graduated from Suncoast Community High School as an International Baccalaureate student. Basketball was her first experience with a team sport after she received an invitation in 6th grade to play in an all-boys league. Coach Samuel went on to play high school varsity basketball and ended her senior year in 1998 as a Class 4A State Champion with the 32-2 Lady Chargers. After high school, she graduated from the University of South Florida twice earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership. She always coupled her career as a middle and elementary school teacher and professional development trainer with coaching in basketball, martial arts and track. During her time as a coach at the New Tampa YMCA, she was named one of the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA Naismith Award recipients, the first female.
In 2015 Coach Samuel started the Community School for Sports at Corbett Prep where she created programming for students in the Tampa Bay Area to receive quality coaching in a positive and goal oriented environment. Due to the growth of the program she has found her way back to basketball and combines her talents and passions under one umbrella as the Director of Operations with the Ultimate Warriors Basketball Academy, where she is also a coach. The program aims to offer athletes of all skill levels an arena to develop, compete, and meet their individual goals, all while growing as teammates. Offerings range from small group skills training, 3-on-3 tournaments, travel basketball teams, and mini seasons for our younger players. With her leadership, in collboration with a team of coaches, the program has continued to evolve with over 240 student athletes involved this past year participating in events such as the Jr. NBA Regional Championship, The SUTS The Bump Basketball Showcase, University of Tampa and University of South Florida team camps, and the 8th grade girls' team winning their AAU Super Regional for the program's first bid and trip to compete at the 8th Grade Girls AAU Nationals.
