The Lightning High School Hockey League's 2019-2020 season focused on sportsmanship through its partnership with PCA-Tampa Bay.

The partnership also involved USF’s Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program and PRESS PR+ Marketing.  Together all entities worked on the “Check Yourself” campaign to improve sportsmanship on and off the ice to make the league a family friendly environment.  The organizations implemented approaches to begin to positively change the mentality and undesirable behavior during the season. 

Jay Feaster, President of the LHSHL, believes the campaign helped support the Declaration of Principles adopted by the NHL at the 2018 All-Star game held in Tampa Bay.  The Declaration of Principles was developed with one objective: to create the best possible family hockey experience.
